In her work, Inez Ligtenberg explores the moment when energy is released, ranging from “canvases” on unbleached cotton to idiosyncratic spatial drawings in materials such as Flexpuzzle and metal wire. Recurring themes include relationships, attachment, growth, and change.

Exhibition and Book Launch by Felicia van Deth Guido van Deth Puppet Theater is the focus of a new exhibition, featuring Felicia van Deth—an HKK member and, for many years, the driving force behind the theater—in the leading role. The exhibition is being held in conjunction with a book about her life, compiled by Marianne Rehorst based on conversations with Felicia herself. On display are props, puppets, and photographs that played an important role in the puppet theater.

In the boardroom, conceptual artist and illustrator Olga Grig is exhibiting work that focuses on psychological depth and inner processes. Using a symbolic and expressive visual language, she explores the relationship between the individual and social structures.

Sculptures in the courtyard garden of the Haagse Kunstkring. From March through October, new sculptures by members of the Haagse Kunstkring are installed in the courtyard garden every two months. In this private urban garden, three-dimensional works find a home in the open air, surrounded by greenery and the changing light of the seasons. The sculptures are executed in a variety of materials, including stone, concrete, bronze, steel and iron. The selection shows different approaches to sculpture, from figurative to abstract.

Arabic Calligraphy Workshop by Wajeeh Qadamani In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the Kairouan Kufic script, a type of Arabic script named after the city of Kairouan in Tunisia. Wajeeh Qadamani will discuss various works of art he has created that are on display at the exhibition. The Kairouan Kufic script is an essential element of these works. You’ll practice writing with this special script yourself, and you’ll learn to write words with it, including your own name.

Once a month Soundlab takes place: a meeting place where members from all performing arts can share and receive feedback on their ideas, questions, music and projects. It offers artists and musicians the opportunity to ask for advice and help each other further even during the creative process.

Because of the high level of interest, not everyone who wanted to attend the first book presentation on June 30 was able to do so; therefore, a second presentation will be held on Friday, September 25. Maarten van Noort explores all aspects of the trilingual *Street Saints of Venice*. Street Saints of Venice is a unique photo book. Maarten van Noort photographed all of Venice’s street shrines. The book devotes a full page to each of the more than one hundred most beautiful ones, while nearly one hundred others are depicted in small format. An introductory essay provides a cultural-historical interpretation of the phenomenon and relates it to a number of well-known 18th-century cityscapes by artists such as Canaletto. In addition, the book serves as a unique walking guide for exploring the city on foot. On September 25, the book will be available at a discounted price of €25. Admission is free. In the Footsteps of Two Multicontinental Travelers. Petra de Vree and Rob van Doeselaar share a similar life story: both have lived and worked on different continents and crossed paths about twenty-five years ago in Accra. Constantly moving, far from their Dutch roots, has profoundly shaped their artistic practice. Petra de Vree’s ceramic work has its origins in the highlands of Bolivia. In her recent work, stones serve as the starting point, evoking stone cairns that provide a sense of stability. Rob van Doeselaar creates paintings on linen, paper, and the iPad. Living in different places has continually added new stories to his work. In his recent work, he returns to his roots: the painter’s palette.

WAKE UP Karel Bodegom, Pim Piët, and Paul de Mol will be using the Albert Vogelzaal as a temporary home for four weeks. Under the name “Wake Up,” the program explores the stages of sleeping and waking up, from the world of dreams to daydreams, featuring a different art discipline each week. Members of all departments are invited to help shape the evening programs and contribute ideas for the design of this temporary home. On Saturday, October 17, a housewarming party will bring the Wake Up Artlab to a close.

In *Manifestations*, the Arabic letter breaks free from the calligraphic tradition. Wajeeh Qadamani, who grew up in Syria, transforms letters into free, spontaneous forms and personal symbols. His work depicts an inner journey, away from the hustle and bustle and materialism, back to purity and the original soul. The letters appear as bearers of light, peace, and inner tranquility.
