The Padre Twins

Between 1960 and 1962, the twin brothers Hein and Wim Vader from The Hague managed to break into the Dutch show business world through their hobby of writing and performing songs. Born in 1942 in Bandung (Java, Indonesia), two months after the Japanese invasion, they came to the Netherlands in 1950 and grew up in The Hague. Vader Sr., a KNIL officer, had been interned and had spent the war years as a forced laborer on the Burma Railway.

The short duration of their stage career is a result of their decision to pursue a solid education.

This choice proved to be incompatible with a life as an “artist.” Nevertheless, their modest success continued for several more years in the Dutch and international media. Major General ( ret.) Willem Vader will discuss and elaborate on the brief history of the singing duo in his presentation.
