The Haagse Kunstkring provides a stimulating environment where interdisciplinary interaction and innovation are central. We are the only artist association in the Netherlands that has almost all disciplines, making us a special and versatile breeding ground for new ideas and collaborations.
We are proud of our rich history. Over the years, many prominent artists have been members, including Jozef Israëls, Jacob Maris, Théophile de Bock, Thérèse Schwartze, Suze Robertson, Jan Toorop, Marius Bauer, Theo van Doesburg, Rie Cramer and many others.

Haagse Kunstkring offers the chance to broaden your network within the art world and find new collaborative partners. You can exchange views with other professionals and art lovers from different disciplines.
Exhibits
Haagse Kunstkring gives the opportunity to show your work in our gallery and at various events. This is an excellent way to present and highlight your work to a wider audience. We regularly organize workshops and lectures by professionals who share their expertise.
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Collaboration with other departments within the Haagse Kunstkring provides unique opportunities for innovative and groundbreaking projects. This interdisciplinary nature makes Haagse Kunstkring a breeding ground for creative exchanges and innovative projects.

Membership process for the Visual Arts Department
To be admitted as a working member, you must be professionally active in your field.
Art enthusiasts can become members at any time. This membership is open to all.
Balloting
The admissions process includes a balloting process in which your work and artistic vision are evaluated by a committee of peers. You can apply for balloting throughout the year.
The balloting committee of the Haagse Kunstkring reviews applications three times a year, in January, May and September, from candidates seeking membership in the Visual Arts Department. Up to 15 candidates are discussed at the next meeting. The remaining applications are advanced to the subsequent meeting. Should this be the case, you will be notified.
The entire procedure is handled digitally. Thus, no work needs to be handed in.
Request the application form, fill it out, and return it to the Haagse Kunstkring along with the supporting documentation listed below (four attachments).
Each application will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
A curriculum listing; courses taken, where and when and year of graduation. Also list professional activities such as exhibitions, assignments and projects for the past 4 years.
You are demonstrably active as an artist and provide an overview of your artistic work. This can be done through a reference to a professional and current website.
The visual material on the website must clearly indicate what it is about: what technique was used, the format of the work and the year of creation. The work will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Finally, we would like to know why you choose Haagse Kunstkring. For example, do you have specific plans you want to implement?
The Haagse Kunstkring is an association that runs on the active role of its members, what role would you like or be able to play?
Results of balloting
Once the work has been discussed in the committee, the results will follow as soon as possible.
The following results are possible:
-Based on the information provided, a positive evaluation follows based on the criteria listed above. The candidate will be accepted.
-If the committee has doubts about one or more of the above criteria, a studio visit by two or three members of the balloting committee will follow.
-The quality of work and/or motivation is rated as inadequate.
The application is rejected. A new balloting may be requested after two years.
The balloting committee is composed of several members of the Visual Arts Department who have volunteered to monitor the quality of artistry within the Haagse Kunstkring from their own professional art practice.
They do this with a neutral view and without regard to persons. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the results of the balloting.
Costs
The ballotage costs are € 30. The application will be processed when the ballotage fee of € 30,- has been paid into bank account NL89 RABO 0179 9015 40 t.n.v. Haagse Kunstkring stating Ballotage Haagse Kunstkring.
The membership fee for members of the Fine Arts Department is €140 per year. For holders of a Ooievaarspas the membership fee is €70,- per year. After you are admitted, you pay for the remaining part of the current year. Thereafter per calendar year. A payment schedule is possible.
For young newly graduated artists there is the possibility to become a member at a reduced membership rate.
Aspiring members:
The first year after graduation the membership fee is € 50.00; the second year € 75.00; the third year € 100.00*.
*If you have a Stork Pass, it applies from the third year after graduation and the membership fee is half the then current membership fee.
