The Haagse Kunstkring association is a multidisciplinary meeting place for artists and art lovers locally, nationally and internationally.

Mission

The Haagse Kunstkring contributes to a lively art climate in The Hague and beyond. In our building at Denneweg 64, the birthplace of Paul van Vliet, visual art, architecture, design, music and literature, theater and film come together in a programming that consciously seeks out and breaks the boundaries between disciplines. This cross-pollination makes the HKK a place where new combinations arise, makers and enthusiasts meet and collaborations develop.

The Haagse Kunstkring supports artists and art-loving members in the creation, experience and presentation of work and offers space for dialogue, experimentation and artistic reflection. Monthly exhibitions by members, sometimes in combination with work by guest artists, are complemented by a diverse program of concerts, lectures, readings, plays, book presentations and film screenings.

Education is a core part of our programming. With attention to children and young people, we strengthen the continuity and vitality of cultural life in The Hague and of the Haagse Kunstkring.

Not profit, but enabling art, meeting and meaningful exchange is central. This sets the HKK apart from other artists’ initiatives.

Vision

The Haagse Kunstkring aims to play a pivotal role in the cultural life of The Hague. Interdisciplinary cooperation, experimental working methods and social involvement are at its core. Our association opts for a dynamic and inquisitive attitude, in which the interplay between image, word, sound, play, design and encounter is a source of artistic renewal and cultural relevance.

The HKK fosters openness, connectedness and innovation and accommodates multiple voices, generations and perspectives. In addition to quality, sustainability, inclusiveness and transparency and sound financial policies are paramount.
