ArtLab

ArtLab is an initiative of the BK A&D department and is open to all artist members of the Haagse Kunstkring. It does not feature individual exhibitions, but rather group presentations centered on a theme or current topic, encouraging collaboration across departmental boundaries. ArtLab focuses on the substantive side of being an artist: the ideas, questions, and convictions from which work emerges. Experimentation is paramount and does not necessarily have to succeed; what matters is what happens when artists share their ideas with one another.

135 Years of the Haagse Kunstkring: Support the Restoration of the Bust of Founder Théophile de Bock

This year, the Haagse Kunstkring is celebrating its 135th anniversary. Since its founding in 1891 by, among others, the painter Théophile de Bock, the Haagse Kunstkring has been a place where artists and art lovers meet and inspire one another.

In the club’s garden stands a bronze bust of founder Théophile de Bock, created by sculptor Toon Dupuis. After decades of being exposed to the elements, the statue has become heavily soiled and is in urgent need of restoration. Especially in this anniversary year, the Art Circle wishes to restore its founder to his former glory.
