New Book from the Haagse Kunstkring: Longing for Elsewhere
The Haagse Kunstkring has published a new book: *Longing for Elsewhere*, the follow-up to the successful *The Hague Art Cookbook*. The book is available for 30 euros from the Haagse Kunstkring.
88 artists set out on a journey and brought back what every journey always brings: wonder, excitement, homesickness, and inspiration. From following a line on the road to the wandering shadow of Apollinaire, from a bike ride along the Scheldt to the land of saudade, and all the way to Timbuktu. Each work tells its own story, but together they touch on something everyone knows: the excitement before departure, the wonder of the unknown, the homesickness afterward. Because traveling transports you to the unfamiliar. For a moment, you become a stranger in another part of the world, and that changes your perspective.
In this hardcover edition (24 x 28 cm), each artist was given two pages to create their own work of art using images and text. In this way, the book showcases the rich diversity of the Kunstkring: visual artists, poets, and writers come together side by side. The result is a book to lose yourself in, to daydream over while lounging in a comfortable chair, and to open to a different page time and time again.
