Haagse Kunstkring seeks vice president
Strong organizational skills, passionate about art and culture
The Haagse Kunstkring, a place where artists and art lovers meet, is looking for reinforcement on the board. Are you someone who enjoys working together, keeps an overview and gets energy from realizing plans? Do you have an affinity with art and culture? Then this role may be for you.
As vice chair, you are the organizational linchpin of the board. You support the chair and take over the chair’s role in their absence. You monitor the progress of board decisions and ensure that agreements are translated into concrete actions. You work closely with the chair, the secretary, and other board members, as well as with volunteers, committees, and our staff member.
Please note that this board position is unpaid. The Haagse Kunstkring runs largely on the voluntary efforts of members and stakeholders.
What you will do:
- You will serve as the chairperson’s substitute in their absence, including when presiding over board meetings.
- Together with the chairperson and the general secretary, you will help ensure that decisions are followed up on and will make sure the agenda is well-organized and that feedback is clear.
- You will support the implementation of programming in a practical sense, for example, in coordinating with committees and managing the schedule.
- You keep an overview of ongoing issues and ensure that tasks are distributed, deadlines are met and feedback is good.
- You will serve as a point of contact for volunteers and staff, identify issues, and help find solutions.
- You will think about the organization as a whole, from internal processes to the functioning of working groups and building management.
About the Haagse Kunstkring:
The Haagse Kunstkring is a unique association where professional artists from a variety of disciplines work together: visual art, music, theater, literature, architecture, film and design. Art lovers are also full members. Everything comes together in our building on the Denneweg in The Hague, a place for exchange, presentation and meeting.

- You can switch well between thinking and doing
- You are practical minded, digitally proficient and have strong communication skills
- You have an eye for both people and processes
- You do not need to have managerial experience, but you do need to have reliability and a good sense of overview and progress

Time investment:
The position requires a substantial commitment, but much of the work can be scheduled flexibly. Occasional attendance at activities or meetings is desired.
