Summary
The Haagse Kunstkring (HKK) is looking for a volunteer—preferably an HKK member who is familiar with our activities—to work with a board member and the secretariat to maintain the website, post content, and write editorial pieces about our exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and other activities. This is an unpaid position requiring a few hours per month, which can be performed from home.
About the Haagse Kunstkring
At Denneweg 64 in The Hague, the Haagse Kunstkring is a place where art, creators and the public meet. The society has existed since 1891 and brings together visual artists, musicians, writers, poets, filmmakers, actors, architects, designers and art-loving members. Programming includes concerts, lectures, readings, interdisciplinary events and monthly changing exhibitions. An extensive team of volunteers forms the hub of the association.
What you will do
You keep the Haagse Kunstkring’s website up-to-date in WordPress. You post announcements of exhibitions, concerts, lectures and other activities and make sure the calendar and news items are correct. You write clear texts and edit content provided by artists, departments and board into publication-ready posts. You pay attention to consistency in tone, style and use of images and think about improvements to the structure and findability of the site. You work closely with a board member and the secretariat; together you coordinate the planning and content.
What we ask
- Experience with or basic knowledge of WordPress (creating pages, posting, uploading media)
- A skilled pen: you write smoothly, flawlessly and know how to find the right tone for the Haagse Kunstkring and our art audience
- Eye for detail and sense of image
- Affinity with arts, culture and association life
- Be able to work independently as well as coordinate well with your fellow volunteers
- Availability of several hours per month, flexible schedule
What we offer
This is an unpaid volunteer position that you can do largely from home, at times that suit you. As a volunteer at the Haagse Kunstkring, you will be part of a committed and motivated team and receive good guidance when you start. You will work in a place with a rich and long history and a current, vibrant art practice. You will participate in the monthly art introductions (Kunst Werkt), in which the exhibiting artists explain their work and backgrounds. You will build a broad network in the art and cultural world of The Hague and your work will be in the midst of the programming of one of the oldest artists’ associations in the Netherlands.
