Over 30 years active in the field of cultural history and musea. At present researching the story of the written portrait in connection with the photo or painted portrait. Published recently the life story of Otto Kann; in 2016 a biography (Publisher Balans, Amsterdam) about Sam van den Bergh (1864-1941), manufacturer of margarine (Rotterdam) and one of the founding fathers of Unilever.
Wrote and edited earlier various books about food history (coffee, ice-cream, dairy-industry) and advertising history (shipping companies, railways, popular music, Dutch Indies); organized various historical exhibitions of (maritime) posters and about the Dutch coffee history.
